Energy Engineer
Do your energy efficiency audits make a tangible impact? Our Energy Engineers identify practical, cost-effective energy & carbon reduction opportunities which are brought to life to make a difference
The Energy Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality non-domestic energy audits and technical assessments across a range of client buildings. The primary focus of the role is on-site energy auditing, analysis, and reporting, supporting clients to identify practical, cost-effective energy and carbon reduction opportunities.
The role will involve conducting building surveys to recognised industry standards (e.g. ASHRAE Level 2, RIBA Stages 0–3, BS EN 16247), producing clear and credible audit reports, and supporting compliance requirements such as ESOS and non-domestic EPCs.
The Energy Engineer will work as part of the consultancy delivery team, contributing technical insight and robust analysis to support decarbonisation strategies and future project development, initially without overall design ownership or line management responsibility, but with the opportunity to grow and develop.
Key Responsibilities
1. Energy Auditing & Site Assessments
Undertake detailed non-domestic energy audits across a range of building types.
Carry out site surveys to identify energy efficiency and decarbonisation opportunities across:
HVAC and building services
Lighting and controls
Building fabric (high-level)
Renewables and low-carbon technologies
Water efficiency (where applicable)
Deliver audits aligned to ASHRAE Level 2, RIBA Stages 0–3, and BS EN 16247 standards.
Collect and validate on-site data, including plant condition, operational profiles, and energy use patterns.
2. Energy Analysis & Reporting
Analyse energy consumption data, utility bills, and operational information.
Quantify energy, carbon, and cost-saving opportunities with clear assumptions.
Produce clear, well-structured audit reports suitable for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Support the development of ESOS-compliant assessments, working under a Lead Assessor where required.
Contribute technical inputs into decarbonisation plans and building strategies.
3. Compliance & Certification Support

Work closely with Senior Engineers and Consultants to support wider project delivery.
Provide technical input to feasibility studies and early-stage project development.
Liaise professionally with clients during site visits and audit delivery.
